There is no intercom system in the rooms, only a call button. So she had to wait for an aid to come answer the call button, then wait for the aid to go tell the correct person what she needed. We were told several times that the "next shift" would take care of it. Family members had to be there nearly all of the time because basic care services were so slow by the nursing staff (or nonexistent), and in the end we actually had to pay a "friend" to sit with my sister a few hours a day when family members couldn't be there. We had to bring a folding chair from home to just have a place to sit in the room, which left very little space for her wheelchair and bedtable. Nothing was ever improved the times we insisted on speaking to someone in charge, in person and by phone. My list of legitimate and serious complaints is very long.
