The reviews provide a mixed perspective on several senior living communities, with a focus on Villa Lorena, Casa Aldea, and Victory Centre of Vernon Hills. Villa Lorena receives overwhelmingly positive feedback, praised for its beautiful environment, caring staff, and engaging activities. Residents and their families appreciate the compassionate care, low staff turnover, and the variety of activities offered, contributing to a home-like atmosphere. The executive director, Joey, and other staff members are frequently mentioned for their dedication and warmth. Casa Aldea, on the other hand, presents a more mixed picture. While some reviews highlight the facility's attractive appearance and caring staff, others point out significant issues such as high staff turnover, management changes, and care inconsistencies. Concerns about understaffing, medication errors, and communication problems are noted, suggesting a need for improvement despite the facility's potential. Victory Centre of Vernon Hills is generally well-regarded, with positive comments about its cleanliness, professional staff, and supportive living options. However, some reviews mention issues with communication and unmet expectations regarding move-in timelines. The facility is noted for its convenient location and amenities, though some find the distance from certain areas a drawback. Overall, Villa Lorena stands out for its exceptional care and environment, while Casa Aldea and Victory Centre of Vernon Hills have both strengths and areas needing attention.

I had a parent at Villa Lorena. My experience with the staff, direct caregivers, med techs, concierge and restaurant was that they were wonderful people. However, the staff nurse who supervised the care staff was not. She oftentimes failed to meet basic needs; for what we paid, I expected my parent to receive services agreed upon in the contract. Regardless of the number of times I reached out to the nurse and her supervisor, the Executive Director, with my concerns, they failed to meet my parents bathing needs, laundry needs, room cleaning needs; the man who cleaned my parent’s room was very unkind and messy. I did not find out how bad it was until my parent had Hospice care. By then it was too late to move my parent. Hospice had a wonderful, knowledgeable nurse who met my parent's needs. Even still, the nurse at VL was dishonest to the point that I had to have outside caregivers come in to take care of my parent 24/7 while still being charged a substantial amount by VL for care.
