The reviews for Villa Lorena and Casa Aldea present a mixed picture of these senior living facilities. Villa Lorena receives praise for its beautiful environment, caring staff, and engaging activities. Many reviewers highlight the compassionate care provided by the staff, including the Executive Director Joey and Resident Services Director Beth, who are noted for their dedication and leadership. The facility is described as clean, well-maintained, and offering a variety of activities and delicious food. However, some negative reviews mention issues with understaffing, unmet care needs, and poor communication, particularly concerning the supervision of care staff and responsiveness to concerns. Casa Aldea is similarly praised for its attractive setting and attentive staff, with several reviewers noting the quality of care and the positive impact on residents' lives. The facility is described as resembling an Italian resort, with good food and a caring atmosphere. However, some reviews point to significant management turnover, care issues, and communication problems. Concerns are raised about medication errors, inadequate training of med techs, and insufficient activities for residents. Despite these issues, many reviewers express satisfaction with the care provided, particularly in the memory care unit, and appreciate the staff's efforts to create a welcoming and supportive environment. Overall, both facilities receive commendations for their aesthetics and some aspects of care, but they also face criticism for management and staffing challenges, highlighting the importance of thorough research and personal visits when considering senior living options.

I had a parent at Villa Lorena. My experience with the staff, direct caregivers, med techs, concierge and restaurant was that they were wonderful people. However, the staff nurse who supervised the care staff was not. She oftentimes failed to meet basic needs; for what we paid, I expected my parent to receive services agreed upon in the contract. Regardless of the number of times I reached out to the nurse and her supervisor, the Executive Director, with my concerns, they failed to meet my parents bathing needs, laundry needs, room cleaning needs; the man who cleaned my parent’s room was very unkind and messy. I did not find out how bad it was until my parent had Hospice care. By then it was too late to move my parent. Hospice had a wonderful, knowledgeable nurse who met my parent's needs. Even still, the nurse at VL was dishonest to the point that I had to have outside caregivers come in to take care of my parent 24/7 while still being charged a substantial amount by VL for care.
