I wanted to do a shout out to Avalon. My step-mum has been in Assisted Living there for over 18 months and both she and are family are extremely happy. My step Mum has moderate dementia , but is still quite upbeat and independent. She was in another local and pricier AL that was purchased and went drastically down hill. Avalon was our solution. The food is good, she and her apartment are clean and the staff is friendly and responsive- especially since Bracha became the Director! The activity director Tony comes up with extra fun activities and field trip and does a fabulous job getting my Mum involved. Friday entertainment is another big hit! Matt Anderson, the business manager works miracles with her Long Term Care company, assuring that they actually pay out on time each month. And trust me, they can ask us to jump through hoops at times. Just a few reasons and staff that have inspired me to recommend Avalon to friends and write multiple positive reviews.

The “concierge” that answered the phone around 10am this morning was snide, difficult to speak with and unhelpful. After realizing very quickly she was not going to be helpful I asked to speak with the Administrator. I had to ask 3 times for the Administrator after already initially telling her why I called. After she asked for all my information, I asked her name and she said “uh , concierge…” she said “We have many Administrators so I’m trying to figure out why you called”. If that’s true and if this is how they train their “concierge” to answer the phone this is not a place you want to leave in charge of your loved ones. I said I did explain why I called right? And she started trying to think or more questions to ask. After answering, I finally asked are you going to transfer me to the Administrator? She literally laughed, put me on hold for about 2 minutes to come back to the phone and ask for my number, as though I would believe someone who was this difficult would arrange for me
