I was a former pastor of Leta Ritter visiting her by phone every day or so for the purpose of affirming my love and prayers for her. Part of the conversations were about family, then goings on at the Porches plus what she had for lunch, etc. She would often volunteer the name and kindness of one of the staff to her. Though no living situation can ever be perfect for we are all blemished or wounded people in some way, the Porches property, senior staff and others all won my appreciation and gratitude for making her life more comfortable, secure and enjoyable!

The Porches is wonderful!! They serve all home cooked meals from scratch. A lot of the meals are farm to table. They have a great summer meal plan that every Friday is called fun food Fridays. One time was a summer BBQ with chicago dogs and home made coleslaw. Another one was a Mongolian BBQ where the owners brought in flat top grills and cooked for all the residents and staff. We also had a huge shrimp and crab boil outside. They make all the residents and the families feel like this is home. The care staff is amazing and the Activity program is outstanding. They are always on the up and up with the trends and are constantly bringing in outside entertainment. please check out their Facebook to see all the wonderful things happening there (ThePorchesofGaylord) I wouldn't put my mother any place else.

The food here is horrible. For example one night for dinner they served my mother hotdogs and coleslaw. They don't serve food that caters to elderly people. They serve the type of food that is served at an elementary school. Another evening they had chicken nuggets. Give me a break. Who feeds old people food like this? My mother couldn't take the food so we moved her out. The activities are not much to write home about either. Its way over priced for what you get.
