5 stars is only for the wonderful staff that work in the memory care unit directly with the patients. Unfortunately, I give only 2 stars because the senior administration is terrible. They don’t like loved ones to visit regularly, even if it’s helping to bathe, shave, dress, make the bed, clean and feed your loved one. Usually, there’s false complaints about disruption just being there. None are true. My family and I have had great communication with the staff, and they love when we offer to help, bring gifts, and appreciate that we decrease their workload. (We even take our loved ones laundry home to wash if their swamped) The people in charge however do not appreciate the help, nor the visits to someone we love? Maybe it’s about control or maybe it’s time for them to look for a position that doesn’t require compassion. It’s irreproachable and cruel, considering many patients are ill, elderly, and in advanced stages of death. Too give visitors that are family a hard time, at one of the hardest times in their lives when losing a loved one is shameful, disrespectful, and downright unprofessional. My Mother is a retired ICU/CCU RN that has been completely stressed and and disrespected by the senior staff while slowly losing her husband to dementia. They didn’t seem to like she knew more than they did in regards to nursing from day one. Jealousy? Control issues? Either way, my Mom is one of the most giving and kindest people I’ve ever known. The CNA’s love her help and have never complained, only thanked her, and mention how rare and wonderful it is she takes the time to fuss over her beloved husband on a regular basis. Shame on the administration for causing undue stress to my elderly mother that cares, by reproaching, lying, making false allegations just to keep her away. All while she herself suffers from afflictions that are painful, and losing her best friend and the love of her life. The administration should hope and pray they have a nurse like my Mother when it’s their turn. I too have been a nurse for 33 years, and it’s just unnecessary behavior that doesn’t put family’s and their loved ones first. Firing the head administrator would do a world of good, as her reputation is spreading, and not in a good way.
