The reviews for Charter Senior Living and Meadowmere Southport present a mixed picture. Many reviewers praise the facilities for their compassionate and attentive staff, highlighting the welcoming environment and variety of activities available for residents. Positive comments often mention the quality of care, the friendly atmosphere, and the range of services, including outings, fitness programs, and on-site amenities like beauty salons and religious services. Some residents and their families express satisfaction with the food and the overall living experience, noting that the staff becomes like family. However, there are significant criticisms as well. Some reviewers report high staff turnover, lack of accountability, and inadequate training, particularly in handling residents with special needs like memory care. Issues with medication management, cleanliness, and responsiveness to residents' needs are also noted. Several reviews mention unprofessional behavior, lost paperwork, and poor communication, leading to missed medical appointments and other inconveniences. The quality of care is described as inconsistent, with some residents feeling neglected or hesitant to ask for help due to staff shortages. Overall, while some families and residents have had positive experiences, others have encountered serious challenges, particularly regarding specialized care and staff reliability. The reviews suggest that while the facilities have potential, improvements in staff training, communication, and care consistency are needed to enhance the overall resident experience.

So glad I was able to move my Aunt here. It has a real sense of community and she had a wonderful year here. I truly could not have found a better place.

If you want your loved-one to get necessary care, find somewhere else. It’s an okay place if a person is very independent. Even just having medication dispensed is an expensive monthly addition. Don’t count too much on housekeeping. They don’t do dishes and only a gentle wipe with a feather duster, if that. The staff is very friendly, but has been incompetent when care is needed. This place was purchased by a corporation over a year ago and it shows. The corporation doesn’t care about the people, only the money.
