Cumbernauld Village offers you retirement living the way it was meant to be. Two stocked lakes for fishing. Walking paths meandering through the landscape. We also have community gardening and landscaping projects that allow our residence to work with their hands, while making our community beautiful.
You'll have time to enjoy these activities, because you won't be doing yard work and household repairs. Whether you own a garden home or rent an apartment, all outside maintenance is part of the package. It's all independent living -- you enjoy as much privacy and autonomy as you please. But somebody mows the lawn. And paints the house.
Worry-free, hassle-free retirement living. That's Cumbernauld Village.
History
Cumbernauld Village opened June 19, 1989 as a “Special Place for Living”. The generosity and hard work of George and Marilyn McNeish made this Retirement Community dream a reality.
George was motivated to start the groundwork to build what is now Cumbernauld when his aging mother needed care and he could not find a retirement center he felt comfortable moving his mother to. George and Marilyn then set out to make their dream become reality…
Why the name Cumbernauld? It is a village in Scotland where George’s Grandfather lived before coming to American. You can see the Scottish theme throughout the décor.
George and Marilyn wanted to build a place where people would feel at home as well as to have a quality lifestyle. Since it is a Retirement Community, life can flow from garden homes with independent living, to apartments with either total independence or assistance with many daily activities. Residential care is for those who need direct help daily. Healthcare is as homelike as it can be made while still providing the necessary medical and physical care.
Cumbernauld is a not for profit corporation--to provide housing, healthcare, and financial security for those over 55--at a reasonable cost.
