Caveat emptor. Based on my experience, the care at Asbury is very good. The business practices are not. Asbury markets itself as a Continuing Care Retirement Community. Under the CCRC concept, a resident pays a substantial upfront fee ($151,000 in our case) and in return is promised access to elevated levels of care when needed. Do not believe that promise. When my mother was ready for assisted living, we discovered that there was a 45-person waiting list. So, she was charged the SNF rate ($425/day) rather than the A-L rate ($226/day) for more than three months. My mother passed away in January 2023. With the notable exception of the pastor who had known my mother for many years, no one in Asbury’s management or leadership offered a word of condolences on the passing of a 16-year resident. To add a final insult, Asbury billed for 11 days of “incontinence services” after my mother had passed away. Caveat emptor.
