Twin Lakes Community is designated by the North Carolina Department of Insurance as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). We are fully accredited by the Commission of Rehabilitaion Facilities- Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC). CARF-CCAC is the only accrediting body for continuing care retirement communities and other types of aging services in the nation.Twin Lakes began as a legacy of the family of Wade G. and Agnes Coble. As members of Macedonia Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Cobles left a bequest of $3.5 million to the church to establish health services for the elderly in Alamance County. The local church formed Lutheran Retirement Ministries of Alamance County, NC and began the mission which became Twin Lakes Community. Twin Lakes first opened its doors in April 1983 with Coble Healthcare, three apartment buildings and ten cottages. By all measures our mission has been successful. Twin Lakes has served thousands of residents and family members from throughout the United States and has grown to include a campus of over 500 independent living residents, in addition to our residents in other levels of care.Twin Lakes is centrally located in the heart of North Carolina between the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, Triangle area, and the Greensboro/High Point/Winston Salem, Triad area, which places us between the campuses and teaching hospitals of Duke, UNC and Wake Forest Universities. Nationally acclaimed Elon University is minutes from our campus. We are easily accessed by two international airports, Amtrak, and two interstate highways located minutes from our entrance. As a non-profit built on Christian values, we celebrate the progression of life and dignity of the individual by empowering all members of our community to live, work and serve to their fullest potential.
