Goodwin House Incorporated (GHI) is a nonprofit, non-stock Virginia corporation organized in 1955 by resolution of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Virginia. The GHI family owns and operates two continuing care retirement communities – Goodwin House Alexandria and Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads, includes Goodwin House Foundation, and is management agent for The Lewinsville Retirement Residences, Inc. Original building opened 1967; major expansion/renovation completed 1998. 261 residential apartments; 41 assisted living; 12 memory support; 68 health care. 5-year re-accreditation by CCAC-CARF (Continuing Care Accreditation Association), 2007. Averages 95% occupancy.
Original building (“The Crossroads”) opened 1987; the expanded building (“The Pointe”) opened January 2010. Expansion planning started 2004; new Health & Wellness Center construction began 2007; completed June 2008. 106-unit apartment tower construction began 2008; Pointe opened January 2010 and acheived stable occupancy (90%) in July of 2011 and has averaged 95% occupancy for 2012. 335 residential apartments; 43 assisted living; 16 memory support; 68 health care. 5-year re-accreditation by CCAC-CARF (Continuing Care Accreditation Association), 2007.
