00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:00.730
arthurbretschneiderimac: Yeah.
2
00:00:02.500 --> 00:00:06.890
Christine Healy: hey, Arthur? Hi, Christine, how are you? I'm good. How are you doing?
3
00:00:06.930 --> 00:00:08.130
arthurbretschneiderimac: Doing great
4
00:00:08.180 --> 00:00:19.960
Christine Healy: good? I'm excited to ask you some questions today. But before we get there I would love for you to share a little bit about your background, so that people know who we're talking to, and and why we should listen
5
00:00:21.210 --> 00:00:26.479
arthurbretschneiderimac: absolutely. So I've I've been in the in the senior living space for about 20 years.
6
00:00:26.500 --> 00:00:55.799
arthurbretschneiderimac: My family started building and operating retirement homes back in the 1950. S, so I've certainly you know, W. Worked with my family. I've I've I've been in this a long time. And I started senior because I noticed firsthand really, how hard it was for families to go through this search process and and want to make it easier for them. Over the years I've helped. Probably hundreds of families find communities myself. And of course, here at Senior we help thousands of families every year.
7
00:00:55.860 --> 00:01:01.579
Christine Healy: Great. Okay? So 20 years of experience in senior living, I feel like we have for sure come to the right place.
8
00:01:01.640 --> 00:01:23.200
Christine Healy: The community that I wanted to ask you about. It's one that we get a lot of interest in on our site, and it's called Mirabella at Asu. And it's actually a slightly different model for senior living, I think. So tell me what you know about this community.
9
00:01:23.410 --> 00:01:41.950
arthurbretschneiderimac: essentially a community that that is able to support folks sort of age in place in, but in a new in a new setting. So you'd move out of your home into an apartment, and there's going to be, you know, independent services assisted memory care, even skilled nursing, everything sort of supported there.
10
00:01:41.950 --> 00:02:04.310
arthurbretschneiderimac: But Mirabella is even a unique type of community within what what are called live plan communities, because it's affiliated with Arizona State University. And so it's actually also an intergenerational retirement sort of community where you know, it's it's it's located on campus, in fact. So the communities in downtown Tempe.
11
00:02:04.310 --> 00:02:27.189
arthurbretschneiderimac: it's right. Next to the Omni Hotel. It's just a you know, a short walk away from the Asu theater, you know, countless of lifelong learning opportunities at the university. And you know, if you wanna be immersed sort of in a more intergenerational way, or frankly, just go back to school. What? A unique opportunity at at Mirabella.
12
00:02:27.270 --> 00:02:50.120
Christine Healy: Yeah. And it's funny. I feel like I have been reading some studies lately about healthy aging, and how you know staying connected intergenerationally. I'm sure there's a better way to phrase that leads to really healthy aging outcomes. As does continue learning. So I feel like the this model is really interesting to me, because I feel like it's
13
00:02:50.210 --> 00:02:56.180
Christine Healy: it's gonna be a really cool template for a lot of future communities.
14
00:02:57.140 --> 00:03:22.440
arthurbretschneiderimac: Absolutely. So right now, there are no other life plan communities that are actually located on a university campus. There are few other sort of affiliated. So there's it's certainly something. But I mean this, this property is is actually on the campus, and, in fact, the the residents at Mirabella are able to attend over 200 classes a year at Asu. So
15
00:03:22.440 --> 00:03:45.600
arthurbretschneiderimac: you know they're they're you know. They're going back to college, but without homework it's pretty. It's a great, great opportunity. And I think what's what's unique about it. Also for the students is just that the residents bring so many experiences right from different industries, different backgrounds, and they all have the opportunity to participate, you know, in different like learning settings, or whether
16
00:03:45.600 --> 00:04:13.129
arthurbretschneiderimac: you know, could also be arts or sports, or, you know, just different culture, whatever it is. You know, there's just Friday night football games. Exactly. So. Yeah. So I think you know what's what's unique about Mirabella, of course, is the fact that it's on this college campus, and it's really integrated with the school. Of course, also as a senior living community, you know, it has all the supportive services, both.
17
00:04:13.130 --> 00:04:33.710
arthurbretschneiderimac: you know, more sort of concierge style services or health care services at, you know, at, at, at, at the at the community, and so folks can age in place. They can have you know, pretty meaningful opportunities also to stay engaged. So great option. I'm I'm I'm looking forward to following the progress of this community. It'll be interesting.
18
00:04:33.720 --> 00:04:38.020
Christine Healy: Thanks so much.
