San Leandro Healthcare Center

San Leandro Healthcare is a poor choice for recovery from surgery. It’s shabby, understaffed, and unresponsive to patient needs. I was there over a month and with the exception of physical and occupational therapy, I had a dreadful experience. I was placed in an inappropriate bed for 3 weeks, the air conditioning was uncontrollable so at night I had to sleep with clothing on, I was offered medication for another patient. I had a roommate who was up all night screaming in Cantonese, lights were on all night long requiring me to try to sleep with earplugs and an eye mask. The wait for assistance at night was often 1/2 hour or longer. My breakfast tray was never correct and my 10am snack often arrived with lunch at noon. Complaints and suggestions were ignored. One of my clothing items was ruined in the laundry and I was promised reimbursement. One month after being discharged and after 2 attempts to contact the social worker, I’m still waiting for payment. Don’t go here!!
