I literally walked out with the assistance of a walker on an air cast into the rain after being there less than 24 hours. I asked repeatedly to speak to whomever was in charge and was ignored. All I asked for was medications that I had been on for years that are vital to my mental wellbeing. I was repeatedly told over a twelve hour period that the pharmacy was going to deliver them. They never did and the withdrawals became more than I could bear. I elected to leave and take my medication that I had at home. What choice was I given? I went in for a back injury and came out worse than I went in. I am a veteran and a college graduate and am astonished at how something like this can go on. I am posting this because I do not want anyone else to experience this. BEWARE!

If I could get away with NO STAR this is where I would have started!! My Dad was brought to CARELESS ONE for short term rehab. Not too sure how much rehab therapy he was receiving. He was having difficulty with walking and balance but was a dementia patient and tried to get up often. He had some falls in here, but one day, somehow, Dad managed to get from 2nd floor to the front door and was on his way out the outside door. An employee found him as she/he was coming in for the morning shift and tried to bring him back inside, when another employee recognized him and then redirected him. Mom arrived a short time later and the head nurse had seen her at the front desk. By the time my mom signed in and arrived upstairs, the nurse had a drink ready for her and dad. Never told Mom that he almost made it out the front doors. Next thing, my mom and sister are being told that Dad is being moved to Hannah Building (locked down unit), this is when they told them that it is because he almost left the building. Family (MOM) was to be called with any and all incidents. Well, weeks and months later, Dad complained that his tailbone was aching, so much pain. Did he fall when he managed to get off the floor? Did he get it x-rayed, maybe, but not sure if this did take place? The employees lie to your face or claim that they don't know or have no idea when the doctor will be in. Family meetings are to take place weekly, well we never were told of this until fifth week and a family meeting is called to discuss dad's discharge date because Medicare is done paying. Where is he supposed to go, home? Mom and dad live in a condo that has 18 stairs to their condo, dad still can't walk, let alone climb stairs. They said that he can do these things on que, even use a walker and use the toilet. Mom called the Fire Department for lift assistance when he came home. EMTs were completely shocked that he was home in his condition. We found out, when he was taken to the hospital that he had about 10lbs of fluid in each leg, which the nursing staff completely ignored, even though mom went to the nurse with her concern and told them that he has Congestive Heart Failure. They continued to pass it off, (2 weeks). I would never send a loved one here ever again. We even contacted the CEO and never heard from him. So, when management tells you they will investigate, don't believe them. This place is truly CARELESS ONE!
