The Rio At Las Estancias

We were very impressed with this facility. The staff was wonderful and my mother was very impressed with the physical therapists and the speech and occupational therapists. We had no problems except one outfit got lost when we tried to have it washed. We failed to put her name on it. The nurses and staff did an excellent job and kept Mom clean, busy and happy. No matter what we asked for, we received an answer right away and were thrilled with the cleanliness and care provided by the staff. The food was good for hospital food and we had no problem getting issues resolved. We would recommend this SNF to anyone needing a safe, positive place to stay to rehab at.

The staff doesn’t coordinate with each other. Never answer the phones. One nurse gave me the run around. He is unapproachable, unfriendly, unsympathetic. Not sure how he became a nurse. I work in health care and of all the years and as many nurses I have worked with he is by far the worse nurse I ever came across. He doesn’t help at all. They cleaning staff and laundry staff lost several articles of clothing. Even when it was clearly written that family will do laundry. Outside Specialty providers have a difficulties getting labs. The head floor nurse is usually never available. The CNAs never check to see if my parents are soiled or wet for brief changes. Parents have to wait for more than a half hour before the CNAs come to see if they need help after they hit their call button. Sometimes my parents aren’t bathed or even offered to be bathed As far as meals when the CNAs deliver meals they set it down and move on not allowing the residents to request an alternative meal if they do not like the meal being served. There is an alternative menu but they are never given the chance to request any thing off of it the CNAs just set down the food and immediately leave. The room are only cleaned maybe once every 2 weeks. There are walkers and wheelchairs in the showers they leave dirty sheets and blankets on the floor some of the lights in the rooms don’t work. Some of the TVs don’t work or don’t have remotes. It’s very sad to see the elderly who reside there that do not have family and friends or no one to advocate for them. Nursing, front desk, admissions, transportation, physical therapy, kitchen don’t know how to coordinate collaborate with each other. It’s always someone’s else’s fault. It’s always the families fault it’s always the other departments fault. Just be accountable and make it right. I will never ever recommend the facility for care.
