Would absolutely not place a loved one here. We removed my parent. They removed all social activity, are chronically understaffed, leave pull cords unanswered for hours, and are struggling to even hire. The facility itself is fine but the new ownership has really made this place unliveable. Avoid if you love your parent.

We put my father in law with Alzheimers in here about a year ago after stuggling through the lockdown with him, and don't get me wrong, they absolutely have some pros; The grounds are beautiful, location is convenient and the staff (especially some of the management staff) is generally great. But there are many cons and for $16K a month (that's right almost twice what the range they have listed) I do not feel that it is up to standards. First let's talk food; mediocre at best but my real problem is textures. Too often the food requires knives (which they don't allow on my FIL's floor(for good reason)) or excessive chewing and with people with alzheimers choking is a top concern but it never seems to be addressed here. Second issue is the staff ratio, there just aren't enough staff especially at meal times to make sure that everyone is being fed and drinking enough water. Most of these people eat slowly or need a lot of encouragement (my fil included) and they just don't have enough...

As someone with experience in the health care field, I was initially hesitant to place my mother in an assisted living community. However, after touring Sunrise Playa Vista & seeing the attentive care that each resident receives from the staff, I knew it was the right decision. The executive director was especially helpful throughout this process and had been a great support system for my mother. The staff is patient and understanding of her needs, providing her with physical and cognitive activities to engage in as well as helping her feel useful. Seeing my mother so content has made me realize that I made the right decision by trusting Sunrise Playa Vista to provide her with quality care.
