Hartwell Place is a senior care memory center located in a vintage building in Chicago. It is praised for its secure environment, cleanliness, and friendly staff. The facility is small, with a capacity of 28-29 residents, which allows for personalized care and a community-like atmosphere. It specializes in memory care, with staff trained to meet the specific needs of residents with dementia or Alzheimer's. The facility is described as cozy and well-maintained, though some find the rooms small and the amenities limited. The food receives positive feedback, and residents can choose their meals. Activities are designed to be engaging yet suitable for the residents' capabilities, and there are regular outings and courtyard barbecues. While many reviews highlight the caring and dedicated staff, some mention organizational issues, particularly during nights and weekends. There are reports of minor thefts and maintenance delays. A new manager, Martha, is noted for her efforts to address these problems. The facility is part of the Chicagoland Methodist Senior Services network, offering a seamless transition to skilled care if needed. Overall, Hartwell Place is recommended for its focus on resident well-being and affordability as a non-profit. However, potential residents and their families are advised to visit frequently and consider installing cameras for added peace of mind. Despite some criticisms, the facility is appreciated for its compassionate care and community feel, providing peace of mind to families.

Hartwell Place is an amazing place! My Mom has been there for over a year and she feels very cared-for and active. The staff is very warm and caring and the activities are well targeted to people with memory problems. It makes me happy to see my Mom thriving. She is happy with the staff and the art/music/singing/exercise/movies/gardening and other activities and living her life as fully as possible while coping with memory issues. Thank you, Hartwell Place!
