What families are saying

Hartwell Place is a senior care memory center located in a vintage building, praised for its secure environment and dedicated memory-care focus. Many reviewers appreciate its small, cozy community with only 28 residents, which allows for personalized care and attention. The staff is frequently described as friendly, caring, and highly trained, contributing to a familial atmosphere. The facility is clean and well-maintained, though some note it lacks certain amenities like an exercise facility or pool. Residents can socialize in common areas, and meals are served with options to eat in rooms or together. The food receives positive remarks, with a long-standing chef contributing to its quality. While many reviews highlight the compassionate care and peace of mind Hartwell provides, some mention organizational issues, particularly during nights and weekends. Concerns include occasional thefts, delayed maintenance, and inadequate response to emergencies. However, a new manager has been noted for addressing these issues effectively. Hartwell's affordability as a non-profit is appreciated, though some find it expensive. Its location in a quiet residential area is convenient for those nearby, but parking can be challenging. The facility's connection to the Chicagoland Methodist Senior Services network offers a seamless transition to higher care levels if needed. Overall, Hartwell Place is recommended for its dedicated memory care, compassionate staff, and community atmosphere, though potential residents are advised to visit frequently and consider installing cameras for added assurance.

Hartwell Place is an amazing place! My Mom has been there for over a year and she feels very cared-for and active. The staff is very warm and caring and the activities are well targeted to people with memory problems. It makes me happy to see my Mom thriving. She is happy with the staff and the art/music/singing/exercise/movies/gardening and other activities and living her life as fully as possible while coping with memory issues. Thank you, Hartwell Place!
