Compassionate care is a vital part of Givens' ministries as demonstrated through its internal charitable care and external community benefit, which exceeds 5% of annual revenues. Givens has a long-standing history of ministry to residents with financial limitations. One (1) out of four (4) of its residents receives financial assistance. This includes residents in the HUD subsidized and tax credit apartments on the Asheville and Waynesville campuses, and Medicaid residents in the health center.
Givens has embarked on ministries which benefit people beyond its resident communities. It is estimated that well over four thousand (4,000) people in the region are impacted annually through outreach efforts and partnerships with congregations and other non-profit organizations. To strengthen the commitment to the region, LifeMinistries Outreach, LLC was established in 1998 to help congregations and communities become more aware of underserved populations and wellness needs within their congregations, schools and communities. LifeMinistries provides guidance in developing and implementing programs that specifically address those needs.
