I have read the review by Linda S. and I couldn't disagree more. We have lived here for 8 years and couldn't be happier with everything that is offered. I have even had experience in the Medical Center following surgery in April and my care there was so excellent; the employees are friendly and helpful, respond to requests promptly, meals are delicious--I could to on and on. I live in independent living with my husband and both of us love it here. There are so many activities offered, medical staff in independent living 24/7, housekeeping, IT services free of charge--again, I could go on and on. Come see for yourself!

I’ve been living here several years and appreciate that I can afford it, but there’s much I don’t like. The staff, other than administration is friendly, caring, helpful and competent. The place is clean, activities are numerous. There’s something for everybody. I chose it for the continuing care aspect because even though I’m in independent living I’m already disabled and will probably end up in assisted living which I dread. This place is much too big; 500 residents and growing to 700/750. The original building (1974 or so) is old and outdated. The hallways are long, painted a drab brownish and behung with ugly paintings. The residents are allowed to decorate the immediate areas around their apartment entrances and provide diversity and cheer. The meals vary in quality from poor to very good. Menus rotate in a tiring five week cycle. The salad bar is boring. Everyone is charged the same per month whether you eat like a bird or a bear. Leaving on a trip? You’re still charged for meals. Trees were mowed down to make room for the new units going up next to the noisy interstate which will be widened sooner rather than later. The skilled nursing facility is poorly designed. The nurses’ station is isolated in a corner from where no patient rooms are visible. The CNA turnover rate is very high, the licensed nurses are basically pill pushers. The pay is low to barely adequate. Everyone is encouraged to donate to the employee appreciation fund at Christmas time.
