The staff is frequently described as kind, compassionate, and attentive, contributing to a sense of community and safety. Residents appreciate the variety of activities offered, including exercise classes, social events, and intergenerational programs with an on-site daycare. The facility is noted for its cleanliness and the convenience of on-site services like personal care and medical monitoring. However, some reviews highlight significant concerns. Criticisms include unprofessional behavior from management, poor communication, and maintenance issues, such as delayed repairs and pest problems. Some residents report dissatisfaction with the food service and the lack of memory care options. A few reviews mention negative experiences with staff rudeness and improper medication administration, leading to distress for families. Overall, while many find Oak Park Arms to be a supportive and engaging environment, others have encountered challenges that impact their experience. The facility's historic building adds character but also presents accessibility issues for some residents. October 2024

The main reason why I love it here at the Oak Park Arms is that I’m close to the green and blue lines. Walgreens is also just a short walk away. There are many special events happening here and the staff is willing to work with you.

I love living at the Oak Park Arms because I like the friendliness of the people and atmosphere! My apartment is cozy and meets all my needs. I also like that I’m able to live close to family, so the location is great for me.

June 2024

My grandmother did not enjoy her time at Oak Park Arms. Staff and management interactions with us were extremely unprofessional and rude. I would not recommend Oak Park Arms to anyone looking for assisted living options for their loved one.

Montgomery Place Retirement Community

Assisted Living · Memory Care · Independent Living · Skilled Nursing Facility · Continuing Care Retirement Community

We understand that choosing a senior living community is one of the most important decisions you can make for yourself or a loved one. At Montgomery Place, our vision has always been to provide seniors with a welcoming, comfortable, and enriching place to call home. Here, our residents, their families, and our staff are all integral parts of our caring and compassionate community. For more than three decades, Montgomery Place has been counted among the best senior living communities in Chicago. Located in the heart of Hyde Park, our lakeside community serves as a beautiful setting for residents to make memories, build lasting friendships, and experience the best of life. At the heart of the Montgomery Place mission is a dedication to enhancing the quality of life of every member of our diverse and inclusive community. We believe that when each individual's social, intellectual, physical, cognitive, and social needs are met, a truly authentic joy and sense of contentment can be found. Here, our five core values serve as our guiding force: integrity, dignity, engagement, caring, and quality. With a firm belief that the wonders of the city of Chicago can uniquely contribute to the health and healing of the mind, body, and spirit, Montgomery Place takes great pride in making a difference in the lives of our residents and the community as a whole. Today's modern senior living communities offer a wide range of benefits, serving as a wonderful place for seniors to enjoy a full and happy life. In an independent or assisted living community, seniors are provided with many opportunities for social interaction, enrichment, and more, encouraging a productive lifestyle that supports both their physical and mental well-being. For many seniors and their loved ones, one of the biggest benefits of assisted living or independent living is the focus on health and safety. Both their advanced age and living alone can put a senior at risk for accidents, injuries, medical emergencies, disasters, and even crime. However, in a senior community, safety and security is typically a top priority. The communities are designed with seniors in mind, incorporating accessibility and mobility features, medical alert systems, added security, medical staff, and more. As we age, making meaningful social connections can often be difficult, and loneliness for seniors is a common cause of depression and other serious issues. Even with friends and family nearby, seniors can begin to feel isolated in their homes. In an assisted living facility or independent living community, seniors can stay socially engaged with a variety of activities. Communal meals, art and music classes, group outings, fitness sessions, happy hours, and other social events provide the social interaction that is so vital to age happily. For many seniors, living independently is a burden that comes with worries of home repairs, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation. Even daily tasks and personal care can become frustrating, making day-to-day extremely difficult. At an assisted or independent living community, there is a support staff there to provide peace of mind in every way. From everyday chores and property maintenance to grocery shopping and personal care routines, it can all be left to a professional - giving your senior loved one more time to enjoy the present. Located in Hyde Park, this property offers all levels of care and several different payment options. It is a longstanding community right on the lake. Lots of activities and outings for all levels of care. We have a lot of shared spaces and restaurant-style dining, as well as a pool. Very nice option, great to start independently here.…
