I am a resident of Kennedy Meadows in North Billerica, MA. These are my observations: Although meals are advertised as home made from scratch with fresh ingredients, that is not the case. Canned vegetables and fruits. mashed potatoes from dried potato, plain white bread for sandwiches, and pre-prepared items are the norm. Food is most often cool when served; residents comment when meals are warm. Housekeeping is less than adequate; weekly "cleanings" consist of little more than a swipe here and there. Floors aren't mopped, upholstered furniture isn't vacuumed, all the ways one would expect an apartment to be kept properly are missing. Staff shortages lead to long wait times at table for meals and substandard housekeeping. Transportation, an advertised amenity, is available at limited times and only to those who can climb into a van - no wheelchair lift. Residents are not welcome to make suggestions for improvement. As a example, there is no AED (defibrillation device) on site. When residents requested that medical device be made available, we were told it isn't required by law and Hawthorn has decided not to provide one. Towels, bed linens, and toilet paper are substandard - rough. On a positive note, surroundings are very nicely decorated, halls and doorways are wide, outside walkways are pleasant, and residents are friendly. I would not recommend.
