Watermark Retirement

Founded in 1985, Watermark Retirement Communities, has been dedicated to creating extraordinary and innovative communities where seniors can thrive for the last 40 years. CEO David Barnes has been working in senior living since 1988, when his first job required him to live in senior living communities as an operational troubleshooter. Since that time, Mr. Barnes has worked to deliver consistently great experiences to the residents in Watermark's care.

Recognizing the need for a more fulfilling and engaging senior living experience, Watermark focuses on providing a lifestyle built on choice, fine amenities, integrative wellness, and innovative programs. Among these offerings is the award-winning Watermark University, featuring a wide variety of engaging classes for residents and area seniors. Watermark is also committed to serving the broader community through its nonprofit organization, Watermark for Kids, which helps underserved young people build character, strengthen leadership skills, and express creativity. The company has been named in the top 25 Best Workplaces for Aging Services by the Great Place to Work Institute, and is ranked as the nation's 9th-leading senior housing operator by the American Seniors Housing Association. With a reputation for service, innovation, integrity, and financial stability, Watermark manages a wide range of retirement communities coast to coast, and is based in Tucson, Arizona.

sherry s - Loved one of resident
Where do I even begin? I was searching for a place with a caring office staff, employees, clean rooms, good food, security, room options, and transition to memory care, good location, a manager who knows and cares about the residents, take time to know them, fun activities, offer church services, and the smiles on faces of residents. Well, I found it at The Summit Senior Living. I took my mom there and just registered my mother-in-law. She was not doing well health wise but within a month, with managed medicine, therapy, three good meals a day she looked like a completely different person. [Employee name], the nurse, has been very sweet and caring. I recently drove my mother-in-law all over looking at the highest reviewed assisted living locations in the valley. We looked at Summit first and then spent the next two days touring other places. A decision was made, and I quote my mother-in-law, "I choose Summit, it is cozy, warm and welcoming. They will know me by name and not just a number or $, they really care, you just feel it." The young man at the main desk was always upbeat and smiling when we walked in, he made such an impression on us. [Manager name], I’ve not met anyone like you, you are a unique manager, you are not fake, you see what you get, a really kindhearted person. P.S. A bonus is walking distance to a drug store and food. Thank you for the peace of mind Summit. You are truly amazing. Would add a 6th star if I could.

The Hacienda at the Canyon is a great place to live. This place is the epitome of beautiful southwest design, and aside from how it looks, the staff are caring and the amenities are wonderful. The food is great and there are always activities going on. It is definitely on the pricier side so there is a trade-off, but for me that cost is well worth it.
