Pennybyrn is amazing, the staff are excellent, the quality of care is bar none. I'd like to correct the other review on this website. Assisted Living has 48 rooms, not 100. There is a Nurse Leader, a Charge Nurse, CNA Leaders, and multiple MedTechs and CNAs. The ratio is about 7 residents per caregiver. That is an incredible ratio to deliver excellent care while developing personal relationships. Additionally, the Independent Living was not doubled. There were 40 apartments added. The IL portion of Pennybyrn is much smaller then other retirement communities in the area, and that's because Pennybyrn was first a skilled nursing community with the mission to care for the frail, poor, and elderly. They are non-profit, and any proceeds that are gathered go right back into the care of the residents. Not to mention, any residents that are unable to continue paying for their care are subsidized by a Pennybyrn account, and the Sisters commitment to serve those in need.
