The reviews for The Stafford Retirement Community in Lake Oswego, OR, present a mixed picture. Many reviewers praise the facility for its beautiful, upscale environment, likening it to a boutique hotel. The staff is frequently described as attentive, friendly, and respectful, with particular commendation for the medical team and dining staff. The food receives high marks for quality, with some reviewers noting the restaurant is open to the public and offers a pleasant dining experience. However, there are significant criticisms as well. Some reviewers report issues with management practices, particularly regarding financial matters, such as non-refundable deposits and perceived elder fraud. The dining service, while praised for food quality, is criticized for slow service and long wait times. Additionally, some residents and their families express dissatisfaction with the assisted living section, citing a lack of activities and inadequate staffing. The community is noted for its vibrant social atmosphere, with numerous activities and a welcoming environment for families and pets. Yet, some reviews mention a lack of active engagement among residents and a hotel-like rather than home-like feel. Concerns about smoking on the premises and administrative practices, such as fee-charging money cards, are also raised. Overall, while The Stafford is appreciated for its aesthetics, amenities, and some aspects of its service, there are notable concerns about management practices and service delivery that potential residents and their families should consider.

The STAFFORD is superb in all ways, but one —- the most important. Their food service is inadequate and inferior, in all ways. We were keenly disappointed to be served uneatable food, dry, overcooked, unseasoned. A terrible disappointment. This was after 4 meals there.
