My mom moved into the New England Club when she was in her mid 80's as she was not capable physically of maintaining her house. She no longer drove and life in suburbia was getting lonely. At NEC she enjoyed playing bridge and being with other older people. She was as active as possible--going regularly to the exercise room and taking part in group exercise classes. She was very comfortable. She was able to get around for quite a while and then was in a wheelchair (electric and later aide-propelled) I was pondering moving her to a nursing home, but NEC was abe to handle stuff pretty well. She lived the remaining time of her life with them. I was able to purchase added care and she was able to stay in a place that was familiar to her. There is even a nurse practitioner that comes to treat patients which was better than going out!! Mom and my sister and I felt that NEC was a good place for her.

This review is for the location at 8135 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio. The manager there is LeBaron Hendrieth. This place is a joke as far as being able to take care of anyone with any kind of elderly issues. They advertise that they are equipped to take care of the elderly including memory care. This is NOT TRUE. They tell you anything to get you to sign on the dotted line and pay that big fee. Maybe it’s okay for independent living ONLY. First they give you a price for rent then try to jack it up. They do a bait and switch on you. Be careful because they will give you one price and then switch it at signing. Then they increase the rent a hefty sum after first year. In our case it was $320 EXTRA a month. My mother has dementia and the manager, LeBaron Hendrieth, was harassing her about the rent. She had no idea what he was talking about. He never once contacted me about a rent increase. I gave them my address and phone number as the contact info when signing lease. Instead LeBaron decided to upset my mother. Once I found out about the rent increase I paid it and gave him a notice that she would be moving. LeBaron then decided to give my mother a 3 day eviction notice AFTER I had already given him the notice of her moving out. My 81 year old mother calls me hysterical saying she is gonna be set out on the street in 3 days. What kind of person does that to an elderly person with dementia? The rent was paid up, but LeBaron tells me that they never got it. Rent was handed to them IN PERSON. Supposedly he has no idea where that check is. Said it was our fault we never asked for a receipt. We paid rent every month in person. Never had an issue until now.. They are not equipped to take care of the elderly here as they advertise. Do NOT trust this place or anything this man says.
