Please understand that I just got started searching for a place for my aunt. Though I do understand the difference between assisted living and nursing home, I did not realize that nursing homes also provided memory care units. My aunt is not sickly...she's demented and will not eat food, take care of herself in any way or get out of bed. She claims she wants to but screams when the attempt is made. He also explained that we might be able to bring in a current caregiver to help with daily functions. Other folks simply recommend the places they represent and though those places might come close to filling our needs, they aren't really offering the amount of care my aunt needs. I honestly don't know where we're going with this, but I think at least I'm headed in the right direction.
